Welcome to Balmoral School’s PTA!

Balmoral School’s PTA is a fun and community-focussed group of parents to support the School in building a strong sense of community, while fundraising for resources which may fall outside of the school’s operating budget.

Our PTA is strongly motivated to increase community ties and work towards creating events and opportunities where the School family can come together to connect and grow as a community.

We are a group of parents and some staff representatives. The group meets on the second Tuesday every month at 7:30-9pm-ish in the library. Everyone’s invited! We have a leadership team, supported by a wider parent group. Our team is Leanne Corkill (secretary), Emma McDowall (chairperson), and Zainab Mussa (treasurer), Scott Blanks, Amir Merchant, Kellie Ames (Leadership Team)

We love seeing new faces and getting to know new families joining the school. You don’t need to take on an active role to be part of the PTA. Many people come along to meet other parents and to gain a greater insight into the school. The PTA is best operated with fresh faces and voices across the school group, including Intermediate. We’ve found that many hands make light work and we know life is busy - and if you volunteer to help on occasion, you can also stand aside whenever life is more demanding. There is no obligation or expectation.

FRIENDS OF THE PTA

We’ve also set up a ‘Friends of the PTA’ group for people who’d just like to be involved at a more casual level to occasionally help out at an event. Lots of parents say they’d like to contribute to the school in some way but aren’t sure how, meet other parents, or have talents (ie graphic design, event management etc), good ideas or useful sponsorship contacts that they’d like to help with. If you’d like to have the opportunity to put up your hand to contribute sometimes we’d love to meet you! email pta@balmoral.school.nz.

We’ve had some great, fun events in the past year including:

Comedy night, Duathlon, movie nights, Whittaker’s Bars for Books Library Fundraiser, Kids’ discos, Nosy Neighbours homes tour, BBQ’s and a Whānau on the Field family picnic. Jobs might involve anything from helping set up an event, turning sausages or selling pizza, to helping approach businesses for products / sponsorship, graphic design/laying out posters and artwork to support events, or even putting your hand up for running an event with a friend/s.
